Fidelity Bank Donates School Packs to Over 600 Plateau Pupils

Fidelity Bank Plc has donated back-to-school packs to more than 600 pupils across Plateau State, reinforcing its commitment to education and community development.
The initiative, carried out in Jos, benefited randomly selected pupils from all 17 local government areas of the state. Each beneficiary received a school bag containing exercise books, writing materials, a mathematical set, and a water bottle to support their academic activities.
The donation was facilitated by staff of Fidelity Bank’s University of Jos Branch under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), the bank’s flagship corporate social responsibility initiative. Through the programme, employees identify and support community projects, while the bank’s management matches staff contributions to increase the impact of the interventions.
Speaking during the presentation, Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, Meksley Nwagboh, said the initiative reflects the bank’s belief in education as a key driver of national development.
According to him, investing in young people remains one of the most effective ways to build a brighter future, as education provides children with the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities needed to contribute meaningfully to society.
He noted that the intervention aligns with Fidelity Bank’s broader commitment to social impact and sustainable community development, adding that the bank would continue to support programmes that empower future generations through education.
Branch Leader of Fidelity Bank’s University of Jos Branch, Mr. Shunom Leo, said the project was a deliberate investment in the future of Plateau State and the children who represent its next generation of leaders.
“This is more than a donation of school items. It is an investment in the future of Plateau State and in the promise these children represent. Fidelity Bank remains committed to projects that improve lives, support education, and strengthen communities,” he said.
Representing Plateau State Governor, , the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Ms. Caroline Dafur, commended Fidelity Bank and the Plateau State Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Office for the intervention.
She described the distribution of school bags and learning materials as a meaningful investment in the future of children in the state and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to education, healthcare, and social protection.
Project Coordinator of the Plateau State SDGs Office, Nanbam Danjuma-Lot, praised the partnership, noting that collaborations between the public and private sectors are crucial to addressing societal challenges and improving the lives of vulnerable groups.
Also speaking, Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Sunday Amuna, described the initiative as a foundation-laying effort that would have lasting benefits for the beneficiaries.
He said the quality of support provided to children today would influence the stability and success of their future, commending Fidelity Bank for its contribution to educational development.
The programme also extended support to physically challenged children, underscoring the bank’s commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities.
Fidelity Bank said the intervention forms part of its ongoing efforts to empower communities, promote access to education, and contribute to sustainable development across Nigeria.
