Novak Djokovic says Serena Williams’ comeback has inspired him as he targets a historic 25th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic is drawing motivation from Serena Williams’ sensational return to tennis as he prepares for another attempt at history at Wimbledon. The Serbian star is chasing a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam singles title, and Williams’ comeback has strengthened his belief that remarkable achievements remain possible.

Williams, now 44, will return to singles competition for the first time in four years when she faces Maya Joint in the Wimbledon opening round next week. The American icon has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, one behind Djokovic’s men’s record of 24.

The 39-year-old Djokovic said he contacted Williams to discuss her return, which was motivated by a desire to compete in front of her two young daughters.

“Look, first and foremost, what she’s doing is inspirational and it’s epic. That’s what I told her. I always admired her career, her journey, her story,” Djokovic told reporters on Saturday.

“For her to come back after years of being absent from the tour, two children later, and to give so much effort to, not just for her own satisfaction is remarkable.

“I told her that whatever happens, what she’s doing is truly inspirational for me personally, I’m sure for millions around the world.”

Djokovic believes Serena Williams’ comeback shows the value of determination and hard work. He praised her preparation and said he has noticed her intense training ahead of the tournament.

Both Williams and Djokovic have won seven Wimbledon singles titles, but Djokovic’s last victory at the All England Club came four years ago. He hopes the tournament’s grass courts can help him challenge for another major title after recent struggles, including a third-round exit at the French Open.

“I was planning to peak at Wimbledon after the injury of the shoulder that kind of kept me away from the tour for several months.

“Obviously playing on grass, comparing to clay, you don’t need to exert as much physical effort. So that’s better for me.”

With Wimbledon offering faster conditions, Djokovic believes he has a strong chance to compete at the highest level again.

Can Djokovic’s Wimbledon experience help him achieve the historic 25th Grand Slam title?
