Ascensia at One: Building Access, Trust and Growth from Abuja
Licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in April 2025, Ascensia Finance Company Limited commenced operations in Abuja in July 2025 with a clear objective: to build a finance company that addresses the real growth needs of individuals, SMEs, merchants, contractors, and businesses through practical, accessible, and responsible financial solutions.
One year later, Ascensia has moved from vision to execution.
In its first year, the company has focused on building the infrastructure required to serve customers more efficiently in a fast-changing financial services market. This has included investment in digital channels, payment capabilities, institutional partnerships, credit infrastructure, and customer access points designed to make financial services faster, easier, and more reliable.
Key milestones achieved include the Ascensia App, the Ascensia Verve Card, and availability on the NIBSS platform, and integration with payment and transaction channels, including Remita STP, BudPay, Paystack, eTranzact and Interswitch Bills Payment. These channels form part of Ascensia’s digital finance framework to improve access, transaction convenience, payments, collections, and service delivery.
The company has also strengthened its institutional foundation through its partnership with BankOne as a core banking application provider, engagement with the Finance Houses Association of Nigeria, collaboration with Credit Bureaus, and relationships across the financial services ecosystem. These partnerships support stronger governance, better credit decisioning, responsible lending, risk management and operational efficiency.
For Ascensia, finance is not just about lending. It is about enabling measurable growth — for salary earners who need timely financial support, SMEs managing working capital, merchants expanding trade, contractors bridging payment cycles, and communities where access to finance can unlock enterprise and opportunity.
According to the Managing Director, Jude Chuka Ezeamii, Ascensia’s next phase will be driven by clear execution priorities: wider adoption of the Ascensia App and Ascensia Verve Card, deeper digital payment and collections channels, improved turnaround time for credit delivery, stronger credit risk assessment through bureau-driven decisioning, and expanded responsible lending to SMEs, merchants, salary earners, contractors and underserved business segments.
He noted that Ascensia will continue to support enterprise growth, financial inclusion and responsible access to credit in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while operating within the reform direction of the Central Bank of Nigeria under the leadership of Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, particularly in the areas of responsible lending, financial system stability, transparency, consumer protection and confidence in the financial sector.
This is the meaning behind Ascensia’s first anniversary theme — One Year of Commitment to Customer Growth. It is not only a celebration of the past year; it is a working agenda for the years ahead.
The first year has been about building the foundation. The next chapter is about execution, scale and impact.
Ascensia Finance Company Limited is one year old — proudly operating from Abuja, building for Nigeria, and committed to customer growth.
