Paris FC Appoint Liam Rosenior as Head Coach

Liam Rosenior has returned to management after Paris FC named him head coach following his departure from Chelsea earlier this year.

The Liam Rosenior Paris FC appointment sees the 41-year-old English coach sign a two-year contract, with an option to extend his stay by another season. He replaces Antoine Kombouare after Paris FC finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season.

The French club, owned by the Arnault family with Red Bull holding a minority stake, hopes Rosenior can help establish the team higher up the Ligue 1 table. In announcing the appointment, Paris FC praised his experience at the highest level, his record of developing young players and his commitment to attractive, attacking football.

The Liam Rosenior Paris FC move comes just three months after his dismissal by Chelsea. Rosenior replaced Enzo Maresca in January after the Italian left following a disagreement with senior club officials before taking charge of Manchester City.

Although Rosenior enjoyed a positive start at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s form declined sharply towards the end of the campaign. The club lost its final five Premier League matches under his leadership without scoring a goal, leading to his departure in April.

Despite that setback, Rosenior strengthened his reputation during his spell at Strasbourg. He guided Chelsea’s sister club to seventh place in the 2024-25 Ligue 1 season, securing qualification for the UEFA Conference League with the youngest squad across Europe’s top five leagues.

Before his time in France, Rosenior coached Brighton’s Under-23 side, worked as Wayne Rooney’s assistant at Derby County, and later managed Hull City, leading the club from 15th to seventh in the Championship before narrowly missing the play-offs.

Chelsea have since appointed former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso as Rosenior’s successor.
