Airtel Launches DigiLeap Women in Tech Initiative

Airtel Africa Foundation has launched the DigiLeap Women in Tech Programme to equip 200 young women in Ikorodu, Lagos, with valuable digital skills for technology careers.

The initiative is being delivered through Airtel Nigeria in partnership with the Ishk Tolaram Foundation, Co-Creation Hub (CcHub), and SAIL Innovation Lab. Hosted at the SAIL Innovation Lab in Ikorodu, the 12-week programme runs from June to September 2026. It aims to prepare participants for careers in Product Design, Software Development, Digital Marketing, and Data Analytics. The DigiLeap Women in Tech Programme also offers leadership training, structured mentorship, and internship opportunities to help participants gain practical workplace experience.

Speaking at the launch, Segun Ogunsanya, Chairman of the Airtel Africa Foundation, said investing in young women’s digital skills is one of the strongest ways to support Africa’s future. He added that the DigiLeap Women in Tech Programme reflects the Foundation’s commitment to expanding digital education and helping more young Africans take part in the continent’s digital transformation.

He said, “We encourage every participant to approach this programme with purpose, discipline, and curiosity. The knowledge, networks, and mentorship you gain over the coming weeks have the potential to transform not only your own future but also the lives of your families, communities, and the next generation of girls who will look up to you. This is how lasting impact is created.”

Dinesh Balsingh, Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, said the programme supports the company’s goal of building an inclusive digital economy. He explained that DigiLeap Women in Tech Programme gives young women practical skills, professional guidance, and industry exposure needed to succeed in today’s technology sector.

Participants will complete intensive classroom lessons, practical projects, mentorship sessions, and internship placements designed to bridge the gap between learning and employment. Airtel Nigeria professionals will mentor participants by sharing industry knowledge and career advice.

Through the DigiLeap Women in Tech Programme, the Airtel Africa Foundation continues to promote digital inclusion and youth empowerment while helping build a skilled and diverse workforce that can support Nigeria’s digital economy and future innovation.
