Nigeria’s Oil Output Reaches Four-Year High

Nigeria’s crude oil production climbed to an average of 1.735 million barrels per day in June 2026, extending its growth streak to a fourth consecutive month. The latest figures, released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), show improved output driven by stronger operational performance across the upstream sector.

According to the report, crude oil production averaged 1.56 million barrels per day, while condensate production reached 0.18 million barrels per day. This meant Nigeria achieved 104 per cent of the 1.5 million barrels per day production quota set by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Excluding condensates, the June figure represents Nigeria’s highest crude oil output since April 2020, marking a 74-month high.

The report also showed that combined crude oil production and condensate output peaked at 1.89 million barrels per day during June, while the lowest daily production stood at 1.57 million barrels per day. Overall production has continued to improve, rising from 1.483 million barrels per day in February to 1.546 million in March, 1.663 million in April, 1.700 million in May and 1.735 million in June, reflecting a monthly increase of 2.2 per cent.

The NUPRC attributed the steady growth to stable operations across producing assets and the absence of major pipeline disruptions. It added that limited operational shutdowns had little effect on national output, while scheduled maintenance was completed without causing significant production losses.

Among production terminals, Bonny Terminal recorded the highest daily average at 318.28 thousand barrels, followed by Forcados Terminal with 306.36 thousand barrels. Qua Iboe Terminal produced 164.73 thousand barrels daily, Escravos Oil Terminal recorded 138.03 thousand barrels, while Bonga completed the top five with 103.66 thousand barrels per day.
