The Organising Secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Toba Ajiboye, has reportedly died after he was attacked by suspected armed men in Lagos.
According to reports, the incident happened on Sunday night as Ajiboye was returning home from his childhood neighbourhood in Fadeyi. The suspected attackers reportedly intercepted his vehicle along the Ikorodu Road axis before opening fire. The vehicle was left with extensive bullet damage.
Images and videos shared online after the incident showed Ajiboye’s white vehicle with several bullet holes across the windscreen and other parts of the car, highlighting the severity of the reported attack.
Initial reports indicated that Comrade Toba Ajiboye and other occupants of the vehicle survived the shooting after sustaining gunshot injuries. However, subsequent reports now claim that the Lagos NURTW official later died from those injuries.
At the time of the latest reports, no official statement had confirmed the identities of the attackers or provided further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident. The reported attack has drawn attention because of Ajiboye’s position within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and has raised fresh concerns about security and violent crime in Lagos.
