Ogun Police Strengthens Partnership With Traditional Leaders

The Ogun State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with traditional institutions to strengthen security and community confidence across the state.

Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni said the command would continue to promote community policing in Ogun through stronger engagement with traditional rulers and other key stakeholders.

Ojajuni made the remarks on Wednesday during a courtesy visit with members of his management team to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.

The police commissioner praised Oba Gbadebo for his leadership, statesmanship, and commitment to maintaining peace and development in Ogun State. He also recognised the contributions of Egbas in the Diaspora, noting their support for security initiatives and their continued connection with the state.

The Ogun security partnership aims to improve intelligence sharing, strengthen cooperation, and build trust between law enforcement agencies and local communities. Ojajuni said traditional institutions remain important partners in achieving effective intelligence-led policing.

Oba Gbadebo described the visit as a sign of respect for the traditional institution and a reflection of the longstanding relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the people of Egbaland.

The monarch praised CP Ojajuni for the command’s achievements since taking office, particularly the impact of Operation KOSAYE, which he said had improved public confidence and enhanced the protection of lives and property.

The meeting also included discussions on current security challenges, community policing strategies, and the role of traditional leaders in supporting peace and socio-economic growth.

The police team was received alongside the Olu of Itori Land, Oba Abdulfatai Akamo, Egba General Chiefs, and other prominent sons and daughters of Egbaland.
