Peter Obi Faces Aviation Identity Allegation Petition
A new petition has called for an investigation into claims involving Peter Obi, passenger identities and aviation security concerns.
Nigeria’s Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is facing a fresh petition over allegations that he travelled with passengers using false identities.
The petition, dated July 12, 2026, was submitted to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, with copies sent to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A person who described himself as a concerned employee in Nigeria’s aviation industry filed the petition. The individual requested an urgent investigation into what he called repeated concerns involving aviation security, regulatory compliance and passenger safety linked to Obi and a female passenger.
The petitioner alleged that the woman, identified as one of Obi’s media aides, had previously faced a ban from Air Peace due to reported misconduct and disputes at airports.
The petition further claimed that the passenger continued using the airline after the restriction by travelling under different names. It also alleged that Obi accompanied her on some trips and helped arrangements that allowed her to continue flying despite the ban.
The petitioner stated, “Despite this restriction, Peter Obi made arrangements repeatedly for this media thug to continue travelling under a different name in order to circumvent the airline’s decision.
“Such conduct by him undermines aviation security, compromises passenger identification procedures, and interferes with our airline’s ability to enforce lawful safety measures.”
The petition also alleged that airport staff faced difficulties conducting identity checks when Obi travelled with the passenger.
It added, “Every time we stop her, he prevents us from checking her identity, even after she is reported by our staff on ground. Evidence of these flight tickets have also been attached as he is even on some of the Passenger Name Record, PNR,”
The claims remain allegations contained in the petition, and the relevant authorities have been asked to examine the matter.
