Barcelona Complete Karim Adeyemi Transfer From Dortmund
Barcelona have signed Karim Adeyemi on a long-term deal as the Spanish champions continue reshaping their attacking options.
Barcelona have completed the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, with the Germany international agreeing a contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.
The Karim Adeyemi transfer was confirmed by the La Liga champions on Thursday. Neither club revealed the financial details of the agreement, although media reports valued the deal at €22 million (£25.1 million) plus add-ons and included a sell-on clause.
In a statement, Barcelona said, “FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of forward Karim Adeyemi, who has signed a contract with the Catalans until 2031.”
Adeyemi joined Dortmund from Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. During his three seasons in Germany, he made 146 appearances and scored 36 goals across all competitions, establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous attacking players.
The 24-year-old will reunite with Hansi Flick, who gave him his senior debut for the Germany national team during his time as head coach. Adeyemi is also well known for his outstanding pace. He set what was then a Bundesliga speed record after reaching 36.65 km/h in Dortmund’s 5-1 victory over Freiburg during the 2022–23 season.
The Karim Adeyemi transfer is Barcelona’s second attacking addition of the current transfer window following the arrival of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. The move forms part of the club’s efforts to reshape its forward line after Robert Lewandowski joined Chicago Fire and Marcus Rashford returned to Manchester United after the end of his loan spell with the Catalan side.
Do you think the Karim Adeyemi transfer will strengthen Barcelona’s attack ahead of the new season?
