Accord Party Backs Tinubu for 2027 Election

The Accord Party has adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election, following a meeting between the party’s national leadership and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osogbo. The decision marks the party’s formal support for Tinubu ahead of the next general election.

According to a statement issued by Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for the Adeleke re-election campaign, the meeting focused on matters affecting the Accord Party and preparations for upcoming elections.

During the discussions, the party’s national leadership emphasised the importance of allowing the Tinubu administration to complete major infrastructure projects currently underway across the country. The leaders specifically highlighted the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, describing them as key national projects that should be completed to maximise the benefits of ongoing federal investments.

The endorsement effectively positions President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Accord Party’s preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The meeting also reviewed preparations for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August. Party leaders called for a peaceful, transparent and credible electoral process, urging all stakeholders to reject violence, intimidation and any form of electoral manipulation.

The Accord Party also expressed concern over the alleged use of security agencies to harass or intimidate its members and supporters in Osun State. The leadership urged authorities to ensure that all political parties and candidates are allowed to campaign and participate freely in the election.

Several national officers attended the meeting, including National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem, Deputy National Chairman Maryam Sale, National Secretary Ajaja Abiola Adebukola, National Treasurer Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen, National Organising Secretary Ibe Thankgod, and National Publicity Secretary Omorogbe Joseph. Accord state chairmen from across the country also participated in the gathering.

The meeting concluded with the party reaffirming its commitment to peaceful elections and its support for the completion of major national infrastructure projects ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
