261 Innovations Compete at NASENI Pitching Exercise
Nigeria’s top innovators will present groundbreaking ideas as NASENI’s innovation programme reaches its final live pitching stage this week.
Nigeria is set to showcase some of its brightest innovators on Wednesday, as 261 applications compete at the final pitching exercise of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Innovation Assessment & Awards Programme (NIAAP).
Of the 261 entries, 180 originated from NASENI Development Institutes, while 81 were submitted by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) nationwide. Following a rigorous assessment process, the top 10 finalists in each category will now present their innovations in live pitches before a distinguished panel of experts.
The event, scheduled to take place at the NASENI Headquarters, marks the final stage of the innovation assessment process and provides a platform for finalists to defend their ideas and showcase their creativity.
An independent panel will evaluate each submission based on originality, technical merit, practical application, scalability, and socio-economic impact. At the end of the exercise, the panel will select the three best innovations in each category, with winners to be formally recognised during NASENI FEST, the Agency’s flagship innovation celebration.
Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, will officially open the competition, underlining NASENI’s commitment to fostering a vibrant innovation ecosystem that supports indigenous technology development, research excellence, and Nigeria’s industrial transformation.
Held under the theme “Driving Innovation. Accelerating Industrialization. Transforming Nigeria,” the programme aligns with NASENI’s mandate to leverage science, technology, and engineering in developing local solutions to national challenges and enhancing industrial competitiveness. It also demonstrates the Agency’s ongoing effort to discover, nurture, and reward innovations capable of driving sustainable industrial growth and economic prosperity.
Beyond recognising excellence, the competition serves as a platform for identifying transformative ideas, encouraging collaboration among innovators, NASENI institutes, and public institutions, and inspiring a new generation of Nigerian inventors whose solutions can contribute to national development.
