Arsenal Agree £75m Bruno Guimaraes Deal
Arsenal agree a £75 million deal for Bruno Guimaraes as the champions strengthen their midfield ahead of a new campaign.
Arsenal have agreed a £75 million ($99.5 million) deal to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, according to British media reports.
The Premier League champions made an improved offer for the 28-year-old Brazil midfielder after their first bid failed earlier this week. Sky Sports reported that Arsenal and Newcastle have now reached an agreement on the transfer, although both clubs have not yet confirmed the move.
The Guimaraes deal follows reports that the Newcastle captain told the club he wanted to join Arsenal if the right opportunity became available. Newcastle had hoped to keep their influential midfielder, who still has two years left on his contract at St James’ Park with an option for an additional season.
Guimaraes joined Newcastle from French side Olympique Lyonnais in January 2022 and quickly became one of the team’s most important players. He made 195 appearances across all competitions, scored 31 goals, and led Newcastle to League Cup success in 2025 as captain.
The Guimaraes deal would give manager Mikel Arteta more quality and experience in midfield as Arsenal aim to defend their Premier League title and compete strongly in Europe. The Brazilian international also brings significant experience from regular appearances for his country, including at the 2026 World Cup.
For Newcastle, the Guimaraes deal represents another major challenge after the departures of key figures such as Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and manager Eddie Howe.
