NESG Names Nonny Ugboma Executive Director

Dr Nonny Ugboma joins the NESG leadership to drive policy reforms, stakeholder engagement and sustainable economic development across Nigeria.

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has appointed Dr Nonny Patricia Ugboma as its Executive Director, Policy and Programmes and Chief Summit Officer, reinforcing its leadership team to advance policy reforms and economic development in Nigeria. The Nonny Ugboma NESG appointment took effect on Monday, August 3, 2026, following approval by the organisation’s Board of Directors.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the NESG’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Tayo Aduloju. The organisation said the appointment reflects its commitment to strengthening executive leadership with experienced professionals who can promote inclusive growth, sustainable development and private sector-led transformation.

In her new position, Dr Nonny Patricia Ugboma will lead the NESG’s policy programmes, public-private dialogue, policy commissions, strategic initiatives and the annual Nigerian Economic Summit. She will also oversee stakeholder engagement, partnership development and the implementation of summit recommendations to ensure policy discussions lead to measurable results.

The Nonny Ugboma NESG appointment brings more than 25 years of experience across finance, telecommunications, corporate social investment, institutional development, innovation policy, energy and sustainable development. Before joining the NESG, she built a successful career in finance and corporate strategy before joining MTN Nigeria in 2003 as a Business Planner and Financial Analyst. She later served as Executive Secretary of the MTN Nigeria Foundation from January 2009 to March 2021.

During her time at the Foundation, she led nationwide programmes in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, economic empowerment, and arts and culture, delivering projects across about 850 locations in collaboration with governments, educational institutions, healthcare organisations, communities and private-sector partners.

Dr Ugboma holds a PhD in Innovation and Public Policy from University College London Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose. She also earned a Master of Public Administration with Distinction from University College London, an MSc in International Management from King’s College London, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick.

The NESG said the Nonny Ugboma NESG appointment combines extensive professional experience with strong academic expertise, positioning the organisation to strengthen policy delivery, deepen public-private collaboration and support reforms that improve investment, competitiveness, productivity and sustainable economic growth in Nigeria.
