Bala Wunti Appointed WEC Nigeria Chief Executive
Former NNPCL executive Bala Wunti takes charge of WEC Nigeria, with supporters praising his experience and vision for sustainable energy.
Dr Bala Wunti, a former chief upstream investment officer at NNPCL, has been appointed chief executive officer of World Energy Council Nigeria.
The appointment has received strong support from the management and members of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO), which described it as recognition of his contributions to Nigeria’s energy industry.
BWSO chief executive officer Malam Muktar Jarmajo, who founded the organisation alongside Dr Wunti, congratulated him on his new role. In a statement signed by the group’s public relations officer, Kamal Ibrahim, Jarmajo said the appointment reflected Wunti’s leadership skills, industry experience and commitment to sustainable energy development.
He said the decision to place Wunti at the helm of WEC Nigeria showed confidence in his strategic thinking, innovative approach and ability to promote high standards across the energy sector.
“BWSO is proud of this remarkable achievement and firmly believes that Wunti’s visionary leadership will further strengthen Nigeria’s voice and influence in the global energy landscape. His wealth of experience and commitment to excellence position him to lead the World Energy Council Nigeria to greater accomplishments while supporting the nation’s energy transition and sustainable development goals,” Jarmajo stated.
BWSO said the appointment also reflected the growing importance of capable and forward-looking leadership in driving national development. It added that Wunti’s new position would give him a wider platform to support Nigeria’s energy security, attract investment, encourage economic growth and advance the country’s transition towards a more sustainable energy future.
The organisation also prayed for Almighty Allah to grant Wunti good health, wisdom, strength and guidance as he takes on the responsibility.
BWSO reaffirmed its support for its founder and expressed confidence that Bala Wunti would make a transformative contribution to Nigeria’s energy sector while strengthening the country’s role in the global energy community.
