APGA Guber Candidate Steps Down for APC’s Ambo
APGA candidate Adeshina Yomi Doro has withdrawn from the Osun governorship race and endorsed APC candidate Ambo ahead of the election.
The prospects of All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Ashiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (Ambo), received a significant boost on Saturday as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Adeshina Yomi Doro, announced his withdrawal from the race and pledged his support for the APC flagbearer ahead of next Saturday’s election.
Doro made his declaration at the Osun Youths Interactive Session with Ambo, stating that his decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders.
“I’ve been watching the candidates closely, and I’ve consulted far and wide with my state chairman, my state secretary, and senior members of the party. We reached an alignment, because at the end of the day, we are all progressives, and we look forward to delivering Osun State to our governor, Ambo, by the special grace of God,” Doro said.
Doro, one of 14 contenders in the race, becomes the latest candidate to step down in favour of the APC, further strengthening Ambo’s chances at the polls.
This move mirrors a similar endorsement by Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State—himself an APGA member—who recently declared support for the APC’s presidential candidate in the forthcoming national elections.
By stepping down, Doro has aligned with Soludo’s position and broadened the APC’s support base ahead of the general election.
“I want to assure you that we are going to work together to deliver Osun from bad governance,” Doro added, expressing confidence that Ambo’s administration would cater to the needs of Osun’s people.
He also urged candidates from other parties to step down and join forces with Ambo, “so that together we can build a better Osun State.”
