PDP Chieftain Olagunsoye Oyinlola Declares for APC, Rallies Support for Ambo

Former Governor of Osun State and prominent PDP chieftain, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), bolstering the party’s ranks ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Oyinlola announced during a meeting with top political stakeholders in Okuku, headquarters of Odo Otin Local Government, where he explained his decision to ensure clarity and avoid any misunderstanding or misinterpretation.

Present at the meeting were key political figures, including Hon Pa Durojaiye Olaleke, Pa Ọrẹ Adesina, Alhaji Dúró Falowo, Hon Mufutau Abioye, Alhaja Bintu Dada, Hon Oyerinde Olusola Stephen (Chief of Staff), as well as representatives from Okada Riders, NURTW, and other political groups.

Reflecting on his political journey, Oyinlola referenced the sacrifices he has made for the current Accord Party administration in the state—efforts that, he noted, have not yielded positive results for him or his supporters.

“At this particular moment, Osun State requires a new direction. It is on this basis that we have resolved to officially declare our support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji,” he stated, referring to the APC gubernatorial candidate popularly known as Ambo.

Oyinlola explained that his decision is informed by the need to support the transformational agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasising the importance of alignment with the government at the centre. He urged his supporters—regardless of previous political affiliation—to come out en masse and vote for Oyebamiji on August 15th, stressing that genuine development has been stifled by nepotism and tribalism under the Accord Party’s administration.

Speaking at the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Odo Otin Local Government, Hon Dele Iko Adepoju, described Prince Oyinlola as a respected statesman both nationally and locally. He said Oyinlola’s move to the progressive fold is a major boost for the APC and its candidate, and called on all Okuku indigenes to seize the opportunity of having a leader dedicated to the welfare of his people.
