NBA Unveils 2026-27 Schedule With Major Showdowns

The NBA has released its 2026-27 regular-season schedule, with a Finals rematch and several major player homecomings among the highlights.

The defending champion New York Knicks will host the San Antonio Spurs on Christmas Day in their first meeting since New York won last season’s NBA Finals. The teams will meet again in San Antonio on 7 March.

The five-game NBA Christmas schedule begins at noon ET with the Knicks-Spurs clash. Miami will then visit Boston at 2:30 p.m., followed by Philadelphia’s trip to the Los Angeles Lakers at 5 p.m. That game will mark LeBron James’ first return to Los Angeles since joining the 76ers. Oklahoma City will face Minnesota at 8 p.m., before Denver visits Golden State at 10:30 p.m.

Opening night on 20 October will also feature several headline games. Boston visits Detroit, while Philadelphia travels to New York as the Knicks raise their championship banner. San Antonio will host Oklahoma City in a rematch of last season’s Western Conference Finals.

The schedule also includes several notable NBA player homecomings. Jaylen Brown will return to Boston with Philadelphia on 21 January after being traded to the 76ers. His first meeting with his former team comes in Philadelphia on 10 November.

Giannis Antetokounmpo will return to Milwaukee on 28 January when Miami visits the Bucks. The two-time MVP spent his first 13 seasons in Milwaukee and led the franchise to the 2021 championship.

Ja Morant will return to Memphis on 6 February, while LaMelo Ball visits Charlotte on 15 February.

The 2025 NBA Finals rematch between Indiana and Oklahoma City is scheduled for 5 February. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton missed last season after suffering an Achilles injury in Game 7 but is now healthy.

The league has also scheduled the first meeting between the top two picks of the 2026 draft, AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson, for 27 February.

Each team initially received dates for 80 of its 82 games, with the remaining two dependent on NBA Cup group-stage results.
