Nigeria is taking its Nigerian oil and gas investment drive to China, with a delegation set to attend a major petroleum industry exhibition next month.

The delegation will participate in the China Dongying International Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment and Technology Exhibition (CDYPE 2026), scheduled for 28 to 30 September in Dongying, China.

Oraso Consulting Ltd, which is organising the mission, said the Nigerian delegation will use the exhibition to present a portfolio of investment-ready oil and gas projects to potential Chinese partners.

The group will include regulators, state representatives and indigenous oil and gas companies. According to a statement signed by Tuoyo Memuduaghan for the firm, the participants are seeking access to finance, technology, equipment and strategic partnerships.

Memuduaghan said CDYPE 2026 is expected to attract more than 500 exhibitors, including some of China’s leading energy companies. These include Sinopec, China National Petroleum Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation and PipeChina.

A dedicated Nigeria-China country-focused session will give the delegation an opportunity to meet directly with Chinese financiers, engineering companies, equipment manufacturers and investors.

“The objective is to present credible projects, identify suitable Chinese partners and advance discussions towards concrete commercial agreements,” a programme official said.

Nigeria’s participation forms part of wider efforts to attract credible foreign investment into the petroleum industry. It also seeks to connect indigenous operators with international companies that can provide the capital, technology and technical expertise needed to support oil and gas projects.

The CDYPE exhibition serves as an international platform connecting companies, investors, manufacturers, engineering firms, technology providers and government institutions from China and other countries.

For Nigerian operators, the event provides a chance to present their projects to a large international audience and explore potential commercial relationships. The delegation will focus on finding suitable Chinese partners who can help move promising projects towards investment and implementation.

The mission therefore places Nigerian oil and gas opportunities before Chinese investors and industry players while strengthening links between Nigeria’s domestic petroleum sector and international businesses.

Do you think stronger China-Nigeria partnerships could accelerate investment in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector?
