The JAMB admission deadline has been extended, giving candidates with outstanding offers until 30 September 2026 to accept or reject them.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had originally set Monday, 31 August 2026 as the deadline for candidates offered admission from 2021 to date to indicate their decision.

However, the Board announced on Saturday that it had moved the deadline to 30 September. Dr Fabian Benjamin, Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, said the extension would give affected candidates more time to take the required action.

JAMB advised candidates whose offers remain pending, whether made through the regular admission process or the Centralised University and Institution Admission (CUIIA) process, to accept or reject them before the new deadline.

“Candidates with pending admission offers who have not yet accepted or rejected such offers are strongly advised to do so before 30 September 2026,” the Board said.

The Board urged candidates not to wait until the final day. It warned that failing to act within the given period could affect the status of their admissions.

Candidates who accept their offers will be able to print and obtain their admission letters. Those who reject their offers will instead see their dashboards changed to “Not Admitted.”

According to JAMB, the process will help it update its records and ensure the national admission database accurately reflects each candidate’s current position.

The Board also provided guidance for candidates who have moved on from the institutions where they previously received admission. Those who are no longer studying at the institution or have switched to another programme may accept the outstanding offer and later apply for the relevant correction or deletion of admission, where necessary.

“This will enable the Board to appropriately update the candidate’s admission status and records,” JAMB explained.

Candidates currently studying for a second degree who still have an earlier unaccepted offer may also reject that offer and continue with their present programme.

JAMB further reassured candidates admitted during the 2026 admission exercise who still have an earlier outstanding offer. They can reject the previous offer without affecting their new admission.

“Candidates who have been offered admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have a previous admission offer pending should not be apprehensive. Such candidates may reject the previous admission offer, and doing so will have no adverse effect whatsoever on their 2026 admission.”

The Board said the JAMB admission deadline extension represents the final opportunity for affected candidates to make a clear decision about their outstanding offers and regularise their records.
