NAF Opens 2026 Recruitment for Tradesmen and Non-Tradesmen
NAF recruitment 2026 opens 3 September for Nigerians seeking to join as tradesmen, non-tradesmen and women.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has opened its NAF recruitment 2026 exercise for Nigerians seeking to join the Service as tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women. The recruitment portal opens on Thursday, 3 September 2026, and remains accessible to eligible applicants until 14 October 2026.
The Air Force announced the exercise via its official X handle on Wednesday, confirming the commencement of the NAF Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026 recruitment. According to the Service, applications remain completely free, and prospective applicants are strongly advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria and application guidelines before submitting their forms.
Applicants seeking to enlist as tradesmen/women must be between 18 and 27 years old as of 1 March 2027, while those applying for non-tradesmen/women positions must fall between 18 and 22 years old by the same date. All applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and meet minimum height requirements of 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females. Candidates must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit, meeting the Service’s established medical and employment standards.
Requirements for the NAF recruitment 2026:
For tradesmen/women, applicants holding National Diploma (ND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE) qualifications must have obtained these from accredited institutions. They must also possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in no more than two sittings across WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS. Applicants seeking driving or other trade-specific positions requiring a Trade Test must hold the relevant certificate and satisfy applicable Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination requirements, with those applying as drivers also required to hold a valid driving licence.
For non-tradesmen/women, applicants must possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, alongside their Primary School Certificates and Secondary School Testimonials.
Successful applicants will need to complete an Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form. This attestation form may be endorsed by a military officer from the applicant’s state of origin, not below the rank of Wing Commander in the Air Force or an equivalent rank in the Nigerian Army or Navy. Alternatively, it may be signed by a police officer not below the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, a substantive local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin. The completed form must include the applicant’s passport photograph and a photocopy of the signatory’s driver’s licence, National Identity Card or international passport.
Following submission, successful applicants will be invited for a zonal general aptitude test, with the date announced through the recruitment portal. Only candidates who pass the aptitude test will proceed to the interview stage.
The NAF has warned prospective applicants to remain cautious of fraudsters, reiterating that the entire NAF recruitment 2026 process is completely free of charge. Interested Nigerians are advised to obtain full details and submit applications exclusively through the official NAF recruitment portal.
