City Boy Movement Appoints Isaac Balami to Executive Board
Isaac Balami has joined the City Boy Movement’s leadership as political realignment gathers pace ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections.
The City Boy Movement has appointed aviation entrepreneur and political mobiliser Isaac Balami to its executive board as National Director on Special Duty.
Balami’s appointment comes after his reported departure from the Obidient Movement and amid his growing efforts to mobilise support groups and political associates towards the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointment letter was formally presented to Balami by the movement’s Director-General, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, and National Secretary, Hon. Tosin Odufuwa, alongside other members of the executive board.
The development was also confirmed by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The executive board serves as the highest decision-making body within the City Boy Movement. It provides strategic direction and oversees the organisation’s activities.
Balami’s entry into the leadership is being viewed by supporters as significant because of his growing influence among young political groups and support organisations across Nigeria.
His appointment is also expected to strengthen President Tinubu’s 2027 campaign mobilisation in the North and Middle Belt. Balami has built a network of support groups and political associates in both regions through his recent political activities.
Associates also describe him as the first Christian from Northern Nigeria to serve on the movement’s board. They believe his inclusion could strengthen representation of different ethnic, religious and regional interests within the organisation.
Balami’s appointment follows increased political activity since his reported exit from the Obidient Movement. In recent months, he has led several support groups and political platforms towards the APC as part of preparations for what has been described as a broader national political crossover.
The City Boy Movement has also appointed Ahmad Abdulaziz Yari, son of former Zamfara State Governor and Director-General of President Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, Governor and Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, to its board.
The latest appointments are expected to strengthen the movement’s political structure and expand its reach among young Nigerians and political support groups ahead of the 2027 elections.
Balami has established a profile in Nigeria’s aviation industry, while also combining his professional activities with youth mobilisation, political advocacy and involvement in political movements.
He served as Deputy Campaign Manager for the Obi/Datti campaign organisation in 2023, giving him previous experience within a major presidential campaign structure.
His new position is expected to put him at the centre of the City Boy Movement’s efforts to coordinate political mobilisation, build new alliances and expand its support network across different parts of Nigeria.
The appointment also comes at a time when political groups are beginning to strengthen their structures and build wider networks ahead of the 2027 general elections. Balami’s political relationships and existing mobilisation networks could therefore become important to the movement as it seeks to increase its influence among younger voters and support groups.
With Balami now joining the executive board alongside other recent appointees, the City Boy Movement is positioning its leadership for a broader mobilisation effort as preparations for the 2027 political contest gather momentum.
Could Isaac Balami’s new role significantly strengthen the City Boy Movement’s reach ahead of the 2027 elections?
