Negative trend continues with N103bn equities’ loss


Trading on the equities market of The Nigerian Stock Market (NSE) declined by 1.08 per cent on Tuesday after a three-day consecutive gain.

The Market Capitalization dropped by N103.4 billion to close at N9.47 trillion against N69.74 billion lost to close at N9.57 trillion on Tuesday.

The All Share Index lost 300.86 basis points to close at 27,533.03 basis points against 202.84 basis points gained to close at 27,833.89 basis  points on Monday.

The market closed trading for the day with 16 gainers against 28 losers.

Unilever Plc topped the gainers chart with an 8.33 per cent or N3.50 gain to close at N45.50 per share, followed by Mobil Plc which added 5.00 per cent or N6.30 to close at N132.41 per share, while Eterna Plc gained 4.83 per cent or N0.07 to close at N1.52 per share.

Livestock Plc appreciated by 4.38 per cent or N0.06 to close at N1.43 per share while Transnational Express Plc increased by 4.04 per cent or N0.04 to close at N1.03 per share.

On the other hand, Zenith Bank Plc topped 28 losers with 6.15 per cent or N0.94 to close at N14.35 per share.

Forte Oil Plc trailed with 5.13 per cent or N12.75 to close at N235.90 per share while Transcorp Plc dropped five per cent or N0.08 kobo to close at N1.52 per share.

Africa Prudential Plc lost 4.92 per cent or N0.12 to close at N2.32 per share and Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc fell 4.88 per cent or N0.38 kobo to close at N7.40 per share.

In all, investors exchanged 485.0 million shares worth N4.45 billion in 2,785 deals.
