ASI dwindles by 2.76%

The Nigerian bourse recorded a 1,016.96 points loss in the market benchmark performance indicator -the All-Share-Index (ASI) of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) pushing it down by 2.76percent on Monday.
The market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) also lost N350.494 billion on Mondaywhich marks the last trading day of the seventh mouth.
The ASI depreciated by 1,016.97 points, to close at 35,847.75 points as against 36,864.71 points of last week’s. Similarly, the market capitalization also lost N350.494 billion to close at N12.354 trillion as against N12.705 trillion of the preceding trading day.
A total of 5,558 deals were sealed to the tone of about 490.164 million shares with a value of about N5.265 billion. The year-to-date (Ytd) return on the ASI stood at 33.39 percent, with 22 gainers against 27 losers.
The financial services again dominated the top trades chart by the close of trading on Monday, with FCMB Group Plc and FBN Holdings Plc taking the lead.
FCMB Group Plc shares had the most trades with 127.605 million units traded for about N154.211 million. FBN Holdings Plc followed with N58.346 million units traded to a tone of N347.196 million. Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc followed with 49.704 million units traded for a total value N72.496 million, Zenith Bank Plc followed with N45.783 million units traded for a total N1.148 billion. UBA Bank Plc traded N19.122 million units for the total value N185.292 million.
Okomu Oil Palm Plc share price increased the most, with N 5.62 to close at N80.03 by the close of the trading day, from N74.41. PRESCO Plc followed, gaining N3.66 from N73.2 to N76.86. Seven Up Bottling Company Plc gained N1.39, from N90.5 to N91.89. International Breweries Plc gained N1.13 from N32 to N33.13, Dangote Sugar Plc followed with a N1.11 increase in its share price, from N10.86 to close at N11.97 at the close of trading.
On the laggard table, Dangote Cement Plc recorded the biggest loss on Monday, losing N11.76 of its share price, from N235.51 to N223.75, Nigerian Breweries Plc followed with a loss of N4.62 from N171.62 to N167. Lafarge Africa Plc lost N3.03 of its share price which opened at N60.75 to close at N57.72. Guaranty Trust Bank Plc followed losing N2.05 from N41.1 to close at N39.05, followed by Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc who lost N1.63 of its share price from N37.53 to close at N35.9 at the Mondays closing.
