Equity Market gains 0.33% on high cap stocks’ appreciation
The equity market of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Tuesday gained 0.33per cent, reversing two days bearish rally, attributable to gain in some high capitalised stocks
The NSE All Share Index (NSE ASI) gained 119.89 basis points, representing a growth of 0.33per cent to close at 36,531.62 points from 36,411.73 basis points it opened for trading today.
Similarly, the Market Capitalization gained N41.27 billion, representing a growth of 0.33per cent to close at N12.57 trillion from N12.53 trillion.
Similarly, market breadth closed positive, recording 22 gainers against 14 losers.
The Upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; NASCON (10.23per cent), UACN (3.67per cent), Dangote Flour (3.62per cent), Dangote Sugar (2.79per cent), NB (2.55per cent ) Access Bank Plc (+1.33%), UBA (1.11per cent), ZENITH BANK (+0.80per cent) Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (0.36per cent).
Meanwhile, The Naira at the inter-bank (official) market closed at N305.70 against the Dollar, representing a marginal appreciation of 0.02per cent.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) foreign exchange window opened at N359.90, traded high at N361.50 and eventually closed at N360.39, representing an appreciation of 0.07per cent. A total of $146.06million was transacted.
