Nigeria Police is to engage consultants to assess its personnel with higher educational qualification in its ongoing promotion exercise.
The decision for independent assessor was reached by its high command and the Police Service Commission (PSC) for neutrality and free exercise.
Consequently, the ongoing exercise has been suspended pending the appointment of the consultants to screen those policemen who acquired Degree/HND while in service.
Olabisi Kolawole, the Police spokesperson in a statement said the decision was based on allegation of malpractices and innuendoes going around.
“IGP Solomon E. Arase, during a meeting with the Police Management Team stated that the exercise has been put on hold after consultation with the Police Service Commission”.
“When the exercise is completed, each State of the federation will have equal number of representation”
The statement enjoined all qualified Policemen to be patient and ensure they attend the oncoming screening exercise to be scheduled by the independent body. He assured that all qualified Policemen will be considered appropriately.
