A Federal Capital Territory High Court on Friday granted another N300 million bail to the embattled National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh.

Metuh was brought before the court on a two-count charge of alleged destruction of his statement at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The case is different from another seven-count charge of alleged fraud against him.

Justice Ishaq Bello handed down the ruling having listened to
submissions by counsel in the matter on the bail application filed by the accused person.

Metuh had filed for bail pursuant to Section 158 and 162 of the
Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015.

Sylvanus Tahir, the prosecuting counsel, in his submission did not
oppose the bail application, but instead prayed the court to admit

Metuh to bail on certain terms and conditions to guarantee his presence for trial.

Subsequently, the judge ordered that he be granted bail in the sum of N300 million with two sureties in like sum. He is also expected to tender particulars of his residential abode for easy reach.

Metuh, who is standing trial on a seven-count charge bordering on
money laundering charges before Justice Okon Abang of the

Abuja Federal High Court had earlier been granted a N400 million bail and two sureties in like sum before the EFCC filed fresh charges against him at the FCT High Court.
