Kogi Guber Interests Swell Apc Purse With N132m



The All Progressives Congress ( APC) has grossed N132 million from interested aspirants for the November 21 gubernatorial polls.

The money came from sale of expression of interest and nomination forms to 26 aspirants. 

Sale of forms began last week at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja and each aspirants N5.5 million for eligibility for the party primaries slated for  August 25th and November 15.

Two women who are aspiring were excluded from paying to drive home the party’s gesture of encouraging women in making a stake in the electoral processes.

‎Many of the ‎aspirants have expressed optimism to rescue Kogi from its current state to a hub of both commercial and industrial giant in the country. 

One of the leading contenders in the race,Olushola George Olumoroti, a staff of a multi-national oil company, Exxon Mobil, has expressed readiness to turn around the fortunes of the state for good.

Olumoroti, who is currently on leave of absence from the oil company to pursue his political dreams is the chairman of Exxon Mobil Cooperative Society with an asset base of not less than N17bn, he said he was in better position to manage the resources of the state.

“I have quality training that qualifies me to handle Kogi state resources. I also have the requisite experience to turnaround the fortunes of Kogi state,” Olumoroti said.

He added that the Kogi is blessed with resources but lack good leadership, saying the state needed new ideas to move forward.

Olumoroti promised to invest in agriculture to bring about value-chain, road network and tourism so as to improve the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) while he plan to push Kogi up among the top 10 states in the country.

On the insinuations that some of the aspirants could be fronting for a particular aspirant, he denied what he called rumours of fronting for a former governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu.

“That is a rumour. For me, Engineer Olumoroti, I bought the forms for myself,” he added.

Some of the notable aspirants justling for the sole ticket of the party includes; Abubakar Audu, a former governor of the state, Alex Usman Kadiri, a former senator, Ocholi Enejoh James (SAN) and Adinoyi Ojo Onukaba.

Others are; Ahmed Baba Ali, Yahyah Bello, Aliyu Zakari Jiya, Tim NDa Dichie, Suleiman Lanre Ipinmisho, Hadiza Ibrahim amongst others.
