Staff Shutdown RMAFC Over Commissioners’ Intrusion
AMINA HUSSAINI, Abuja
Official activities at Abuja office of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) were disrupted Tuesday by Commissions’ staffs over alleged incursion by board members into their official schedules.
An insider informed InsideBusiness that staff of RMAFC held a peaceful protest against Commissioners representing various states over what they described as encroaching of board members into staff official schedule.
The protest which commenced midday led to seal up of the entrance to main complex and locking the Commission’s Chairman
Engr. Elias Mbam and his commissioners indoors
A staff who spoke to InsideBusiness in confidence said: “Since the board was inaugurated, they have been encroaching into our responsibility. They are policymakers and not policy implementers but they have taken over the day to day running of the Commission from the official staff. So today, we want to put an end to it. We locked the gate. No going out for them”, he said.
Another staff who was locked outside the premises added that “ The union of the commission did a peaceful protest which was not supposed to last a whole day but just few minutes or an hour,
because the staff are not happy on how things are going on in the commission.
“They protest went on smooth only for us to see policemen coming saying they were asked to come arrest us all,by the FCT commissioner that was why the gate was locked stopping the commissioners and police from coming in and staff from going out”.
