Investors Lose N371bn On Nestle, MTNN, Dangcem Dip.
Nestle Nigeria, MTNN, Dangcem, losses Thursday propelled equities market decline by N371billion.
The Nigerian equities market closed down as NSE-ASI lost 3.12 per cent to close at 22,078.58pts. Similarly, in the trading session, market breadth index was negative with 22 losers against 13 gainers.
NESTLE led the losers on Thursday with N30 or 3.41 per cent dip in share price, to end the day at N850 per share, followed by MTNN that lost N5 or 4.78 per cent, ending the day at N99.5 per share, while DANGCEM, as the third highest loser, declined by N4.4 or 3.30 per cent, closing trade at N129 per share.
ZENITHBANK closed trade as the fourth highest loser, as its share price declined N1.35 or 10.00per cent, to close at N12.15 per share, while WAPCO , closed the top five losers chart At N10.1 per share, having depreciated by N0.7 or 6.48 per share. Also, UCAP declined by 10.00 per cent.
ZENITHBANK, as the most traded stock Thursday polled a total turnover of 118,447,125 million shares , worth N1, 474,934,986.80 billion, followed by WAPIC , with 102,443,336million shares, valued N22,484,484.91 million, while GUARANTY placed third on the activity chart with 100,708,788 million shares, valued N1,830,187,761.00 billion.
FBNH, closed as the fourth most active stock Thursday with 35,181,175 million shares, valued N140, 744,843.85 million, while UBA closed the top five most active stocks chart with 30,754,353 million shares, worth N155, 447,177.50 million.
NSE Banking Index was the highest sectoral loser Thursday, with 7.75 per cent, as a result of the declines in NPFMCRFBK by 12.44 per cent, ZENITHBANK by 10.00 per cent, UBA by -6.54 per cent, ACCESS by -5.79 per cent and FIDELITY by -4.49 per cent. NSE Industrial Index dropped by 1.45 per cent, due to the sell-offs in DANGCEM which declined 3.30 per cent and WAPCO’s 6.48 per cent dip.
NSE Consumer Goods Index depreciated 0.96 per cent, as a result of the loss in NESTLE by -3.41 per cent, while the NSE Oil & Gas Index closed flat.
AFRIPRUD emerged as the best gainers Thursday with N0.32 or 9.91 per cent growth on its share price to close at N3.55 per share, followed by INTERBREW that appreciated by 0.25 or 4.76 per cent, to close trade at N5.5 per share, while DANGSUGAR, a the third best gainer, rose in share price by N0.15 or 1.52 per cent, to end the day at N10 per share.
STERLNBANK gained N0.09 or 9.09 per cent, to end the day’s session at N1.08 per share, while CORNERST, closed the top five gainers chart at N0.58 per share, having risen by N0.05 or 9.43 per cent.
