MTNN Loss Drives NSE ASI To 0.9% Dip.

The negative trend which commenced Monday persisted Tuesday buoyed by the significant sell-offs in MTN Nigeria and Flour mill.
The dip paled into insignificance BUACEMENT’s highest gainer position for the day.
Irrespective of the 1.6 per cent growth recorded by BUACEMENT, MTNN’s 0.9 per cent decline, FLOURMILL‘s -6.7 per cent dip and other losses across sectors, weighed down the market performance indices.
The NSE All- Share Index (ASI) closed lower on Tuesday at 24,930.88, reflecting -0.09 per cent decline. Also equities market capitalization ended the day lower at N13.00 trillion, a further 0.09 per cent drop.
Accordingly, the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date losses increased to -1.3 per cent and -7.1 per cent, respectively.
The total volume of trades decreased by 15.7% to 200.39 million units, valued at NGN1.59 billion and exchanged in 4,194 deals. FBNH was the most traded stock by volume at 26.95 million units, while ZENITHBANK was the most traded stock by value at NGN368.47 million.
Performance across sectors was negative, as all sectors, save the Industrial Goods (+1.0%) index, recorded declines. The Insurance (-2.1%) index led the declines, with the Oil and Gas (-0.6%), Consumer Goods (-0.2%) and Banking (-0.1%) indices the following suit.
Market sentiment, as measured by market breadth, was negative by 0.5x, as 22 tickers declined, relative to 12 gainers.
Total number of transacted stocks (Volume) ended Tuesday at 200,392,700.00 million shares, indicating lesser volume by 15.68 per cent. Value of trades dropped by 1.47 per cent to N1, 585,821,488.94 billion, while total deal of 4,194.00, reclined by 12.77 per cent
FLOURMILL topped the losers on Tuesday with N1.40 or N6.68 per cent, to end the day at N19.55 per share, followed by MTNN which dropped in value by N1.00 or 0.86 per cent, to end the session at N115.00 per share, while ARDOVA, closed the day at N13.75 per share, having lost N0.65 or 4.51 per cent of its share value.
CILEASING [AWR] as the fourth highest loser dipped by N0.45 or 9.38 per cent, ending the day at N4.35 per share, while NNEIMETH closed the top five losers chart at N2.09 per share, following decline by N0.23 or 9.91 per share.
FBNH sustained consolidated top active stock position with 26,945,754 million shares worth N139,934,254.60 million and recorded in 281 deals, followed by ZENITHBANK with 22,631,605 million shares valued N368,466,465.10 million and transacted in 498 deals, while FCMB, the third most traded stock recorded 21,259,992 million shares , worth N36,575,666.08 million , polled in 39 deals
WAPCO closed the day as the fourth best traded stock with 11,883,453 million shares , worth N129,924,089.85 million , recorded in 160 deals, while GUARANTY closed the top five active stocks chart with 11,517,311 million shares worth N271,960,955.90 million and recorded in 297 deals.
BUACEMENT [BLS] rose to emerge the highest gainer Tuesday with N0.65 or 1.60 per cent growth to end the day at N41.40 per share, followed by FIDSON with N0.33 or 10.00 per cent growth, ending the day at N3.63 per share, while SKYAVN, as the third best gainer rose by N0.22 or 8.06 per cent to close at N2.95 per share.
REDSTAREX closed as the fourth in the gainer chart with N0.17 or 4.68 per cent to close at N3.80 per share, while CAVERTON [BLS] closed the top five gainers group Tuesday at N2.19 per share, following growth by N0.15 or 7.35 per share.
