The domestic Bourse, NSE opened the week in red as the Index Plunged amid sustained bearish activity
The NSE ASI and equities market capitalization on Monday declined by 0.93 per cent to close at 24,109.65, and N12, 533,410,160,572.70 trillion respectively.
Other indices, Deals, volume and value increased at the end of the first session of the week. Volume increased by 31.44 per cent to 189.69 million share, Value rose by 82.91 per cent to N2.78 billion, while Deals appreciated 5.58 per cent to 4,216 deals.
The Exchange printed 17 losers as against 14 gainers at the close of the trading session. Consequently, the year to date loss of the NSE ASI hit double digits again as it worsened to 10.18 per cent.
Precisely, with the profit taken on Tickers such as NESTLE, BUACEMENT and ACCESS, their respective share prices fell by 6.51 per cent, 5 per cent and 2.36 per cent.
Similarly, performance across sub-sector gauges tracked was bearish as three of the indices closed southwards: the NSE Consumer goods index led the laggards by 3.18 per cent, followed by NSE Industrial and NSE Oil/Gas indices by 2.35 per cent and 0.04% respectively. Meanwhile, N1.2 billion worth of GUARANTY shares exchanged hands today lifting the value of stocks traded by 82.91% to N2.7 billion.
Elsewhere, NIBOR rose for most tenor buckets amid renewed liquidity strain; also, NITTY rose for most maturities. In the OTC bonds market, the values of FGN bonds moved in mixed directions across maturities tracked; however, FGN Eurobond rose for most maturities.
FLOURMILL opened the week as the best gainer, with N0.90 or 5.11 per cent, to end the day at N18.50 per share, followed by ZENITH Bank with N0.80 or 5.25 percent gain, to close at N16.05 per share, while NAHCO , the third on the gainers chart, appreciated by N0.20 or 10.00 per cent, closing Monday at N2.20 per share.
GUARANTY, the fourth on the gainers chart, rose by N0.20 or 0.96 per cent, ending trade at N21.00 per share, while UBN closed the top five gainers chart with N0.10 or 1.87 per cent, to close the day at N5.45 per share.
NESTLE opened the week as the highest loser with N81.80 or 6.51 per cent dip, closing at N1,175.00 per share, followed by NBETAGLASS (BLS) which declined N6.80 or 9.95 per cent, to end the day at N61.35 per share. BUACEMENT, the third on the losers chart declined by N2.10 or 5.00 per cent, ending the day at N39.90 per share.
JBERGER, the fourth on the losers chart, dipped by N1.80 or 9.81 per cent, to close at N16.55 per share, while CILEASING closed the top five losers chart at N3.80 per share, having declined by N0.35 or 8.43 per share.
GUARANTY with 60,468,939 million shares valued N1,275,635,200.20 billion and transacted by investors 606 deals, emerged the most active stock on Monday, followed by ACCESS with 25,335,255 million shares , worth N161,348,434.40 million and traded in 259 deals, while UBA , the third on the activity chart recorded 8,778,376 million shares , valued N53,215,004.90 million , and transacted by investors in 202 deals.
FBNH closed as the fourth on the activity chart with 8,497,984 million shares valued N42, 748,838.50 million recorded in 171 deals, while ZENITH BANK closed the top five most active stocks chart with 7,996,377 million shares worth N125, 817,722.70 million and posted in 437 deals.
MRS posted the least volume of 13 shares worth N161.85 in 1 deal, followed by GUINEAINS [MRF] with 20 shares , valued N4.00 , posted in 1 deal, while BOCGAS third on the least volume chart , ported 161 shares worth N726.11 , in 1 deal.
BERGER closed the day as the fourth least traded with 303 shares, worth N1, 931.05 posted in 4 deals, while TRANSEXPR closed the chart with 1,000 shares worth N800.00 recorded in 1 deal.
