The gains recorded by AirtelAfrica, BUACEMENT, and some Tier-1 banks hedged losses recorded by MTNN and Dangote Cement, amongst others, closing the equities market in green.
Investors transacted a total volume of 155,529,293.00 million shares worth N2, 600,805,915.79 billion were traded by investors in a total number of 4,060.00 deals.
The NSE) All Share Index (ASI) and equities market capitalization rose by 0.30 per cent, to close at 24,098.08 and N2, 600,805,915.79 trillion respectively. Accordingly, Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date losses moderated to -1.6 per cent and -10.2 per cent, respectively.
However, the total number of deals, volume of transacted stocks and value, all declined respectively.
Volume dropped by 18.01 per cent to close at 155.52 million shares, Value of traded shares dropped by 6.61 per cent to N2.60 billion, while deals dipped by 3,70 per cent to 4,060.
Secondary market bond Capitalization closed at N14, 754,083,200,432.50 trillion, while Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) closed the day at N13, 861,034,365.75 billion cap.
On sectors, the NSE Insurance index dipped by 2.8 per cent, Consumer Goods index by -0.5 per cent, and Oil & Gas index by -0.02 per cent, while the Banking index rose by 0.9 per cent, and Industrial Goods index by 0.1 per cent gain.
Market sentiment, as measured by market breadth, was negative (0.9x), as 18 tickers declined, relative to 17 gainers.
AIRTELAFRICA’s gains on Tuesday ensure a rebound, breaking away from the declining trend of the past week. The communication giant share price rose by N11.60 or 3.66 per cent, to close trade at N11.60 per share, BUACEMENT followed with N1.00 or 2.51 per cent, to close at N40.90 per share, while ZENITH Bank, third on the top gainers chart, rose by N0.30 or 1.87 per cent, ending the day at N16.35 per share.
REDSTAREX closed the day as the fourth on the gainers list with N0.29 or 9.76 per cent, to end the day at N3.26 per share, while CILEASING closed the top five gainers chart for the day at N4.00 per share, following growth by N0.20 or 5.26 per cent.
Highest losers
OKOMUOIL led the losers on Tuesday with N7.70 or 9.95 per cent, closing the day at N69.70 per share, followed by MRS which declined by N1.35 or 9.78 per cent of its share value , ending the day at N12.45 per share, while UNILEVER , the third on the top losers chart close the day at N12.45 per share, following decline by N
DANGCEM closed the day as the fourth on the losers chart with N1.00 or 0.79 per cent decline on its share price, to end the day at N126.00 per share, while MTNN ,closed the trop five losers chart at N115.00 per share, having declined by N1.00 or 0.85 per cent
GUARANTY posted the highest turnover volume with 19,723,812 million shares , worth N413,816,022.25 MILLION IN 540 deals, followed by ACCESS with 13,012,162 million shares , valued N81,056,030.50 million , and registered in 234 deals, while MTNN the third most active recorded 10,232,114 million shares , valued N1,176,787,915.10 billion , posted in 84 deals.
UBA ended Tuesday as the fourth on the activity chart with 10,188,644 million shares , worth N61,982,517.50 million in 179 deals, while JAPAULOIL closed the top five activity chart with 9,623,527 million shares valued at N2,050,210.67 million, recorded in 36 deals.
DAARCOMM led the group with turnover of I share worth N0.30 recorded in 1 deal, followed by UHOMEREIT with N35 shares worth N1, 319.50 in 1 deal, while NNFM recorded 250 shares valued N1, 172.50 in 1 deal.
ACADEMY, the fourth on the list recorded 856 million shares worth N273.92 in 2 deals, while LEARNAFRICA closed the top five list with 1,500 shares worth N1, 710.00 recorded in 1 deal.
