Equities Value Drops 0.54% On MTNN, Seplat Dip
Cautious trading by investors reflected in the decline of traded volume Tuesday, dragging other indices, following dips by MTNN and Seplat Nigeria and resulting in a total of 150.39 million shares, worth N1.97 billion being transacted by investors in 3,780 deals.
This record was against the higher volume traded on Monday.
The bullish trend which opened the week on Monday was reversed Tuesday as both the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All Share-Index (ASI) and equities market capitalization depreciated by 0.54 percent to close at 24,650.16 pts, and N12, 858,982,827,133.20 trillion, respectively.
All the market performance measuring indices recorded a decline, the traded volume of shares dipped by 11.53 percent, the value of traded stocks dropped by 17.08 percent, while deals also declined by 12.82 percent
Bond capitalization closed the day at N15, 270,751,696,452.20 trillion, while Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) capitalization ended Tuesday at N16, 185,323,582.56 billion.
Market breadth was negative with 14 gainers, against 17 firms that recorded a decline in their share prices.
SEPLAT led the losers on Tuesday with N30.7 or 9.82 percent decline to close the trade at N282.00 per share, followed by TOTAL with N9.7 or 9.95 percent decline, ending the day at N87.8 per share, MTNN closed as the third-worst decliner with N2.00 or 1.67 percent dip, to close Tuesday at N118.00 per share.
Julius Berger, the fourth-worst loser dipped by N1.00 or 6.25 percent, closing at N15.00 per share, while GUARANTY closed the top five decliners chart on Tuesday at N22.6 per share, having declined N0.7 or 3.00 percent.
OKOMUOIL led the gainers’ chart with N4.45 or 6.31 percent, to close the day at N74.05 per share, followed by BERGER with N0.55 or 10.00 percent, ending trade at N6.05 per share, while ZENITH BANK, third bests gainer appreciated by N0.45 or 2.83 percent, closing Tuesday at N16.35 per share.
OANDO closed as the fourth on the gainers’ chart with N0.12 or 5.58 percent, closing the trade at N2.27 per share, while UACP closed the top five gainers chart at N2.86 per share, having appreciated by N0.09 or 3.25 percent.
Mutual Benefit led the activity chart on Tuesday with 26,924,061 million shares worth N5,558,993.42 million and transacted by investors in 40 deals, followed by FBNH with 17,036,839 million turnovers worth N84,157,812.05 million and transacted in 254 deals, while ACCESS placed third on the activity chart with 11,238,306 million shares worth N69,798,077.90 million in 161 deals.
WAPCO closed as the fourth on the activity chart with 10,612,230 million shares worth N130, 778,452.10 million, and traded in 332 deals, while GUARANTY closed the top five active stocks chart with 8,452,972 million shares worth N190, 443,564.30 million, recorded in 346 deals.
NOTORE [BLS] closed as the company with traded least turnover with 5 1 shares worth N5.00, in 61 deals, followed by ACADEMY with 30 shares worth N9.90, in 1 deal, while NSLTECH placed third with 50 shares worth N10.00, in 1 deal.
JULI [MRF] closed as the fourth traded stock with 60 shares worth N81.60, recorded in 1 deal, while BETAGLAS closed the top five least traded stocks chart with 70 shares worth N4, 200.00, in 4 deals.
