Malami Orders IGP To Provide Security For 17 Edo Lawmakers
Nigeria’s Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has directed the Inspector General of Police to provide security for the 17 Edo All Progressives Congress Lawmakers.
In a letter dated August 5 based on a petition to his office by Idahosa-West Chambers, Malami said the security measure is necessary to prevent breakdown of law and order.
The 17 lawmakers backing All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, have been locked in a battle to access the Edo Assembly complex on Ring Road, Benin with seven lawmakers loyal to Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari had on Friday endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate in the Edo Governorship Election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
The President gave his endorsement when he received the APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and the APC Governorship Candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President also presented the APC’s flag to Ize-Iyamu in the presence of two other governors elected on the party’s platform.
