Union Bank has partnered with Awarri, a pan-African technology company, to launch “Next Robotics Legend”.
The “Next Robotics Legend” is a programme designed to train Nigerian students in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics in order to ignite a world of possibilities.
Union Bank’s External Relations Specialist, Yemisi Owonubi, said the programme is the bank’s efforts at boosting education in Nigeria through Edu360.
Edu360, Union Bank’s Education platform, was established in 2018 by the bank as a platform to rapidly accelerate access, quality and learning outcomes for Nigerian children and youth.
Owonubi said, “Application to this first-of-its-kind initiative is free and open to students between the age of 11 to 16 from Friday, August 7th to Friday, August 21, 2020.
“The programme includes a robotics training and competition meant for students.”
She noted that the objective of the new initiative is nurturing of young potential inventors and creators who will receive the necessary training to solve some of the challenges plaguing the Nigerian society with the aid of robotics and AI.
The bank added, “To apply, take a 30 second video of your child telling us what they like about robots. Upload on www.edu360.ng and fill the accompanying consent form.
“Twenty-five of the most creative and passionate entries will be selected to participate in the robotics training.
“At the end of the free training programme, participants will be required to identify a need in their community, and apply the skills learnt to proffer a solution”.
“The student with the best solution will be admitted for a mentorship program with Awarri, the advanced AI and robotics company owned by Silas Adekunle – top international robotics engineer renowned for creating the world’s first intelligent gaming robot.”
