Nigeria Records 10 Deaths, As Covid-19 Cases Extend Over 48,000

Nigeria recorded 10 new deaths due to COVID-19 on Thursday, as the country’s deaths toll from the virus rose to 966.

Nigeria had reported zero death on a single day on Wednesday.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which confirmed the deaths in its latest figures released Thursday night, disclosed that the infection cases have exceeded 48,000.

The NCDC reported 373 new COVID-19 cases for Nigeria on Thursday, bringing the total infection cases to 48,116.

Nineteen States and the Federal Capital Territory accounted for the new coronavirus cases.

Nigeria’s COVID-19 epicentre, Lagos State, had 69 fresh cases, while Osun and Kaduna States witnessed 40 and 41 infections respectively.

A state-by-state breakdown of the new COVID-19 cases in Nigeria showed Oyo recorded 40 cases; FCT – 35; Plateau – 22; Rivers – 19; Kano – 17; Ondo – 17; Ogun – 15; Abia – 14; Gombe – 12 and Imo – 9.

Enugu confirmed 7 more infections, Kwara – 6; Delta – 5; Niger – 2; Borno – 1; Bauchi – 1; and Nasarawa – 1.

The NCDC reported that 34,309 persons survived the virus and have been discharged.
