The Senate of the University of Lagos has elected the Deputy Vice-chancellor, Development Services, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola as Acting Vice Chancellor.
Ogunsola polled 135 votes to beat the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Management Services. Prof. Ben Oghojafor who is other contestant who polled 31 votes.
One vote was declared void out of the total 167 Professors present at the Senate meeting
Ogunsola who was the first woman to be the Provost College of Medicine University of Lagos before she became DVC, will now lead the institution in an acting capacity.
The Federal Government last week directed the varsity’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Wale Babalakin, and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, to recuse themselves from official duties, pending the outcome of the Special Visitation Panel set up by the President Muhammadu Buhari.
