TCN Decentralises Services In Katsina, Taraba

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has decentralised its services in Katsina State and Jalingo in Taraba State with the opening of two new work centres.

Both Katsina and Taraba were under TCN’s Kaduna and Yola Regions respectively.

The TCN explained that the work centres were created to further improve its operational efficiency and ensure more proactive solution to interface issues within the Kaduna and Yola Disco franchise areas.

The company, in a press statement on Tuesday, said the new Katsina work centre comprises three transmission substations namely: 2X30MVA 132/33kV Katsina substation, 2X3 MVA Kankia substation and 2x40MVA Daura substation, with a total installed capacity of 200MVA at 132kv level.

It added, “The Katsina work centre equally has five ongoing substation projects, the 2x150MVA, 330/132KV and 2X6 MVA,132/33KV in Katsina, and the 2X6 MVA, 132/33kV substation projects in Kurfi, Kankara Dutsin Ma and Malumfashi Local Government Areas.

“The Katsina work centre also has a proposed 2×6 MVA 132/33kv transmission substation at Mashi LGA which is yet to commence.”

The TCN said the new Jalingo works centre receives supply through the Yola Sub-region transmission substation at 132kv level.

The Jalingo centre, it noted, is made up of four substations including the 2×30/40MVA 132/33kV substation, Jalingo, 2X4OMVA 132/s3kv substations in Wukari and Takum and the 2×7 SMVA 132/33kv substation in Kashimbila with a total installed capacity of 335 MVA transformer capacity.

The transmission company reiterated its commitment to work assiduously in rehabilitating and expanding the nation’s transmission network towards ensuring more efficient and effective transmission of bulk electricity to distribution load centres nationwide.
