Ibadan, Ikeja Customers To Experience Load Shedding – TCN

Customers under Ibadan and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company networks are to experience eight days load shedding, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said on Wednesday.

The TCN, in a statement, explained that the load shedding was due to the maintenance work on Ikeja West/Otta 132kV transmission lines one and two.

The company noted that the maintenance work will provide backstay to existing towers, in order to feed Otta 132KV lines one and two circuits via a 1x300MVA 330/132-V power transformer.

The TCN said, “The outage time is from 10:00am – 6:00pm daily on Thursday 3rd September to Friday 11th September 2020, and during the period, some areas will experience load shedding as a total of about 85 megawatts (MW) will be suppressed to enable TCN engineers carry out the maintenance.

“Out of the suppressed 85 MW, 40MW will affect some areas under Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company’s network, such as Otta and environs, while the remaining 45MW will equally affect parts of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company’s network such as Ogba, Alimosho and Alausa.

“The areas Iisted below will experience load shedding during this period: Airport Hotel, Opebi Road, Osho Road, Asenuga Agbaoku, Kodesho. Rogina, Salvation Awuse Estate Salvation Road, Sheraton Road, Ojota, Kudirat Road, Allen, Oregun, Siyanbola, Momnion Alausa, Kudirat Abiola Road, Ojodu, Alagbole, Omole Estate, Yakoyo Oluwakemi Gbero Akute side, Olowora, Awolowo, Ogundana Aromire, Isheri, Unilag Estate, Magodo GRA, Shangisha Omole Phase 1 CMD Road, Awolowo Way, and Bilings Way,

“Others are Lateef Jakande Estate, VAC, Tun Agidingbi, Abiola Estate, Akowonjo Roundabout Comment, Ajayi Farm, Ifelodun Subuola Street, Union Road, kuomola Street Magoro Area Humani, Capitol Road, Olayiwola Street, U Road, Obawole, Abule-Egba Beckley Estato, Ahmadiyah, ijaye-Ojokoro, Meiran, jlye, Isokoko, Universal Steel Adeniyi Jones, Ajao, Anifowoshe. Guinness, Harp Factory, Santos, Mangoro, Agege, Ifako, M & B Oba Akran, Moboluwa, Oke ira, Thomas Salako, Kayode Ogba and Abiodun Jagun environs.”

TCN stated that regular maintenance of its equipment was necessary to ensure consistent and efficient transmission of bulk electricity to distribution load centers.

It assured that normal bulk power transmission through the affected lines will resume as soon as maintenance work is completed.

Similarly, Ikeja Distribution Company has also announced that part of its customers under injection substations Opebi, New Alausa, Ojodu, Isheri, Olowora, Magodo and Secretariat injection sub-stations would be affected by the TCN’s maintenance schedule slated for the same date.

The load shedding, it said, is due to the erecting of a new 132KV towers by TCN and the re-conduction of 132KV power lines, to enable the company improve power evacuation capacity and ensure stable and reliable power to Ikeja Electric customers.
