She said, “With the full commitment by key public sector bureaucrats, there will be development, reviews and implementation of service standards at service windows that would help the initiative to fall in line with our national guidelines.

“The Federal government’s commitment to the initiative would foster openness, transparency, accountability, inclusiveness and co-operation in service delivered by the MDAs and this process will ranslate to good governance.”

The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from national and subnational governments to promote open government, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance in the spirit of multi- stakeholder collaboration.

OGP is overseen by a steering committee, including representatives of governments and civil
society organizations.

Currently, there are 79 members including Nigeria, Brazil, Kenya, Norway, Canada, Liberia and Ghana.

The Open Government Partnership was launched in September 20, 2011.

The initiative, is designed to provide an international platform for domestic reformers to make the governments more open, accountable and responsive to citizens.

It is targeted at addressing the lack of
openness and corruption that has frittered away the resources meant for national development through the entrenchment of a culture of non-transparency.

According to President Muhammad Buhari, the National Action Plan spans into four thematic areas of fiscal transparency, anti corruption, access to information and citizen engagement.
