The Board of Vitafoam Plc has announced the appointment of a former Group Chief Executive Officer of UAC Nigeria, Abdul Akhor Bello as its Independent Non-Executive Director.
A statement by Lekan Sanni, the company Secretary/Legal Adviser, said the appointment took effect
from March 4th, 2021 following its board meeting.
The statement read in part, “This is to notify you that the Board of Directors at the meeting held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, approved the appointment of Abdul Akhor Bello as Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 4th March 2021.
“Abdul Akhor Bello retired from UAC of Nigeria in 2019 after 30 years in service during which he held various senior management positions such as Group Chief Executive Officer; Group Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer; Managing Director, UPDC Plc; Managing Director, CAP Plc and Finance Director/Company Secretary, CAP Plc.
According to the company, he brings to Vitafoam, executive and board service experience acquired across a range of businesses including Manufacturing, Financial Services, Pension Fund Administration, Real
Estate, Logistics, and Quick Service Restaurant sectors.
The statement added that Abdul Akhor Bello has served on the Governing Council of the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, Nigeria-British Chamber of Commerce, and the Nigeria Institute of
Management.
He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Bello attended Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. He is an alumnus of Oxford University’s Advanced Management and Leadership Program and has undertaken various local and international development courses.
Meanwhile, the Board of Vitafoam also approved the retirement of Mohammed Goni Alkali as Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from pt January 2021 after serving meritoriously on the Board of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc.
