Femi Abegunde, the deputy chairman of Deloitte West Africa has died of Covid complications.

Abegunde died in the United Kingdom Monday morning while in quarantine after testing positive to Covid.

Sources in Deloitte told InsideBusinessNG that Abegunde contacted Covid while in the UK for a medical check-up.

Abegunde until his death is a top figure in Deloitte West Africa, heading the Energy and Resources Industry, and also a member of the Deloitte Africa Executive committee, representing West Africa on the African Board.

Abegunde, a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, also holds an MBA from the same University.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in Nigeria, Abegunde has over 30 years of experience in the energy and resources industry, specifically in the Upstream, Downstream, Power, Gas and LNG operations. He provides assurance, business advisory and tax advisory services to leading clients within the West African market.

He will be remembered for his thoughts and expert opinion on international oil and gas matters.
