Wike Fires Commissioners, Chief Of Staff
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has dissolved the state executive Council.
This came just hours after Wike, Governor Seyi Makinde, and Samuel Ortom met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
The meeting with the ex-president which held behind closed doors according to Wike was to seek Obasanjo support for his presidential ambition.
Emeka Woke, the governor’s chief of staff, and Harold Koko, his senior special assistant on protocol, were also fired.
The governor’s chief of staff and senior special assistant (Protocol) have also been relieved of their duties.
On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, Wike’s Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, made the announcement in PortHarcourt.
“Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has dissolved the state Executive Council with effect from Tuesday, May 24, 2022,” according to the statement.
The governor did not explain why his cabinet was disbanded or his aides were fired, but he did thank them for their services and contributions to the state.
Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike commends the members of the Rivers State Executive Council for their service and contribution to the state’s development.
He has best wishes for all of their future endeavors. Wike also ordered that all former members of the state Executive Council report to the most senior officers in their respective ministries.
