Ebonyi PDP Scribe Raises Alarm Over Billboard Destruction
The Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Ebonyi, Nwoba Chika Nwoba has accused the Governorship candidate of All Progressive Alliance, APC, in the state, Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru and his supporters of destroying the campaign billboards of the candidates of others.
Nwoba who is also the spokesman of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign in Ebonyi State noted that the campaign billboards of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Ben Odoh and others in Abakaliki and Izzi local government Area of the State have also been destroyed.
Nwoba in a statement published on his facebook handle said that people especially the oppositions are pained by the actions of the ruling party governorship candidate.
He condemned the alleged act and described it as an action capable of beefing up lawlessness in the state, adding that billboard and posters doesn’t cast vote.
“The manner members of APC are destroying campaign billboards of Ben Odoh in Abakaliki and Izzi territories is becoming a call to anarchy. Do billboards cast votes?
According to the aggrieved Publicity Secretary, “The APC governorship candidate has got to start condemning and exonerating himself from culpability in this directly or indirectly. why the massive and repeated destruction of the APGA’s billboards and posters in Abakaliki?”
Nwoba queried Nwifuru who hails from Izzi local Government and his supporters if they will tolerate destruction of their own campaign bill board in other areas of the state.
“If it should become a thing of everybody minding his own territory or clan, won’t the APC’s gubernatorial candidate be angry having his billboards destroyed in all the Ezza territories of the state? Would he be happy threatened the way his foot soldiers are threatening the entire state and its residents”?
“Should he not know, Izzi clan which has three LGAs with one assimilated into the urban territory, meaning that only two LGAs are owned up” he added.
He, however, called on the foot soldiers of the APC candidates to sheath their sword, adding that it might be disastrous if other clan and party supporters follow suit.
“If Ezza people should choose to retaliate the wrong against their son, from where will he get the votes that will make him governor? Ikwo? Ikwo people have spoken in one voice and that’ll be carried out practically in March, why the incessant destruction of Professor Ben Odoh’s billboards?”
“The one of today is vexatious. Why all these? Isn’t it time Izzi elders in APC should condemn these attacks? “He added.
He called on the governorship aspirants in the state to shun clannish politics and embrace issue-based campaign that will promote peace and unity during the electioneering process.
