Gains by Dangote Cement Plc helped equities market pull back N293 billion in profit on Wednesday, ending four uninterrupted sessions of losses.
Share price of the heavyweight stock rose +8.84 percent or N19.50 to close at N240 per share, up from N220.50 opening level.
In addition, gains by BuaFoods (+0.7%) and First Bank Holdings (+1.0%) further helped to offset losses in MTN Nigeria (-0.46%), Zenith Bank (-0.25%), MRS Plc (-9.65%) and others.
Consequently, the benchmark All Share Index rose by 1.23 per cent to settle at 44,283.02 points, up from 43,745.73 previous session while the market capitalization rose by ₦293.10 billion to close at ₦24.12 trillion, up from ₦23.8 trillion.
Accordingly, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 3.67 per cent, while month-to-date return improved at 1.0 per cent.

Relative to the previous session, the volume and value of transactions went down by 10.1 per cent to 155.4 million and 61.97 per cent to N1.5 billion respectively.
In other words, a total of 155.41m shares valued at ₦1.53 billion were exchanged in 3,796 deals.
Sterling Bank (-2.11%) led the volume chart with 24.28m units traded while MTN Nigeria (-0.46%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦238.86 million.
MRS (-9.65%) topped twenty-one (21) others on the losers’ table, while Dangote Cement (+8.84%) led eight others on the gainers’ table.
