Finally, Nigerian Fraudster Hushpuppi Jailed 11 Years In US

The United States Central District Court in California has sentenced Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi, a Nigerian Instagram celebrity and internet fraudster, to 11 years imprisonment for cyber fraud.

 

Hushpuppi, who has already spent two years in prison, will now serve nine years behind bars in the US.

 

He was arrested in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in June 2020 alongside 12 accomplices over allegations of hacking, impersonation, scamming, banking fraud, and identity theft, and thereafter extradited to the US for prosecution.

Hushpuppi was also accused of extensive fraud scheme that robbed his victims of their money in the U.S, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and other places.

He was then extradited to the United States where he was charged with fraud and money laundering.

 

The convict came to the notice of the US authorities due to his lavish lifestyle laced with private jets, luxury homes and cars as well as designer clothes which he showcased on social media where he commanded a large following.
