The Nigeria Labour Congress industrial strike in Imo State has entered its third day, as the entire state remains without electricity, and flights into and out of Sam Mbakwe airport are banned.

Following the disruption of the Workers Day celebration in Owerri suspected to have been caused by a government loyalist group, the NLC national leadership announced the downing of tools on Wednesday.

Besides disrupting the May Day celebration in Owerri, the NLC is also protesting the alleged disengagement of 11,000 workers from the state government’s payroll.
