Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has insisted that the mass protest planned for Wednesday 2nd August will hold as scheduled.

Its President, Joe Ajaero who disclosed in a statement late Tuesday night, said its plan is still intact to press for the actualisation of its demands from the government.

The Congress has amongst others sought immediate implementation of the resolutions jointly signed with the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the federal government in addition to the reversal of anti-poor policies including petrol price hikes, school fees hike, Value Added Tax hikes, and the fixing of the countries refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna.

“We want to inform all Nigerians that we have just risen from a meeting with the federal government where we sought to get them to listen to the demands of the people and that of the workers”.

“The outcome of the meeting has however not changed anything or the course which we set for ourselves tomorrow as custodians of the interests and desires of Nigerian workers and people”.

Ajaero who urged Nigerians to ignore those working against the wishes of the people, admonished everyone to gather in their respective states to give vent to the collective resolve.
