Again, FG Invites Labour For Meeting To Avert Strike
In a last-minute effort to stop the nationwide strike slated for October 3rd, the Federal Government has scheduled a meeting for Friday evening with the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
The crucial meeting will be held in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
The InsidebusinessNG learned that the federal government extended invitations to the NLC and the TUC earlier this morning through the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Recall that The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have declared an indefinite and total strike from Tuesday, 3rd of October over what they called a non-challans attitude and refusal of the Federal Government to take steps to assuage workers’ suffering following the petroleum subsidy removal.
The decision was taken after the Joint National Executive Council and National Administration Council Meeting of the NLC and TUC in Abuja,
The unions urged Nigerians to stock their homes with sufficient foodstuff that would last time during the period of the shutdown next week.
